After a flurry of recording sessions last spring, the Georgia Brass Band is happy to take to the concert stage, and we will begin our 2016 season in the friendly confines of The University of Georgia’s Hodgson Hall at the UGA Performing Arts Center. The performance will be the first of at least six concerts this season, and we’re looking at an additional two or three possible venues to round out next spring’s campaign.
The 3PM concert will have something for nearly everyone, with works by Philip Sparke, Stephen Bulla, Peter Graham, Michael Ball, Karl King, Gordon Langford, and G.H. Willcocks.
In addition to seeing the performance, the audience at UGA will be the first to have a chance to pick up the previously-mentioned recording, American Voices, which celebrates compositions for brass band by American composers and features multiple GBB soloists. The CDs will be available for $15 each at the venue.
