It has been several years since our latest CD, A Christmas Festival, was released. By the end of this summer we will have another CD available. Our new recording will consist entirely of works by American composers. Several of the featured pieces have special significance to the band. For example, Bill Himes' Aspects of Praise was our test piece at the first NABBA contest we attended in 2006. We won our section with this piece and look forward to revisiting it for this recording. We are also recording Stephen Bulla's Decade Celebration, which we commissioned for our tenth anniversary in 2009. This will be the premiere recording of this rambunctious work. We will also feature several of our principal players as soloists. Doug Lindsey will perform James Curnow's Concertpiece for Cornet; Jason Casanova will play Stephen Bulla's Euphonium Fantasia, Bill Southwood will dust off Ashokan Farewell, and soprano cornet player Clark Hunt will jazz things up with Georgia On My Mind. Other items with Georgia ties include John Williams' Summon the Heroes (written for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games held in Atlanta) and Sousa's venerable march King Cotton (written for the Cotton States and International Exposition held in Atlanta in 1895). We also have a few other pieces up our sleeve to fill out the program.

The recording will be done in the acoustically fabulous Bailey Performance Center at Kennesaw State University. Former band member Bill Allgood and his crew will handle the recording duties and we are expecting an excellent finished product. Stay tuned for info about the release date, which will be later this summer.
