Georgia Brass Band
2008 North American Brass Band Association
Honors Section Champions
We are a traditional British-style brass band based in Atlanta, Georgia. Incorporated as a not-for-profit educational corporation in the summer of 1999, the GBB's mission is two-fold:
- We strive to expose area audiences to fine British brass band music in concert halls, colleges, churches, and anywhere else where the thrilling sound of brass music is appreciated.
- We provide an opportunity for top-level brass players to hone and showcase their individual and collective talents through rehearsals and performances.
The Georgia Brass Band is available to perform at your party, ceremony, or function. The band has done a number of private functions, including pool parties, corporate meetings, nursing home concerts, and holiday gatherings. Don't need a full 30-piece brass band? No problem. Smaller ensembles comprised of band members are also available. Contact us for rates and availability.

by Joe Johnson on March 30, 2008, 02:13:00 PMThe band made its third appearance at the North American Brass Band Association Championships in New Albany, IN on March 28 and walked away as this year's Honors Section Champions. The band's performances of Eric Ball's Journey Into Freedom and Philip Sparke's Endeavour earned rave reviews from both the audience and the adjudicators. The band played with assurance and energy and received high praise for its mature and robust sound. The entire band rose to the occasion and there was some truly special playing by our fine core of principal players.
And while we are certainly glad to accept the top prize in our category, we also offer our heartiest congratulations to Central Ohio Brass Band (2nd place) and Princeton Brass Band (3rd place). GBB and COBB seem to have established a friendly rivalry in the Honors Section over the past couple of years. In 2007 COBB got the better of us, and this year we turned the tables on them. Following both of these contests, however, both bands could be found at Louisville's Bluegrass Brewing Company enjoying each other's company and congratulating each other over many rounds of malted beverages. COBB is extremely gracious in both victory and defeat. We aim to test their mettle in the latter for years to come!

by Joe Johnson on October 20, 2007, 03:03:00 AMThe GBB would like to extend its thanks to The Salvation Army's Atlanta Temple Corps for generously providing us with a wonderful rehearsal venue. Pretty much all we have to do is walk in and play since the platform is already set up for the resident Atlanta Temple Band. The move to Atlanta Temple makes for a convenient, centrally located site with easy interstate access and plenty of parking. It also has pretty darned good acoustics. Commanding officer Major Rick Mikles and the staff at Temple have been very accommodating and we are pleased to partner with them in this way. 478 Views | Rating: (0 rates)
